Ted Baer's Qualifications and Experience

I have been in the financial management industry for over 28 years, focusing on helping individuals and businesses with their respective investment and holistic financial planning needs. Over the years, I have worked with several prominent asset management firms in a variety of senior-level client servicing and product management roles.

During my career, I have managed accounts for high-net worth individuals, 401(k) plan sponsors and defined benefit plans. I earned my MBA in Finance from Marquette University and also earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM (CFP®) and Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®) certification in conjunction with the University of Chicago. These certifications required approved educational programs, passing rigorous examinations and meeting stringent experience requirements. I also attained the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®) Credential.

I started in the investment management business in 1992 and hold my FINRA Series 63, 6, 65 and 7 registrations through LPL Financial.  I also have my Life, Accident and Health licenses in Wisconsin and Illinois.

Over the past seven years, (2014-2020), I was named as a Five Star Wealth Manager by Five Star Professional.  The FIVE STAR Award is granted by Five Star Professional, an independent 3rd party marketing firm. This award is not indicative of future performance or success.  The Five Star award is based on 10 objective criteria associated with providing quality services to clients such as credentials, experience, and assets under management among other factors.  Wealth managers do not pay a fee to be considered or placed on the final list of 2014-2020 Five Star Wealth Managers.

As a Wisconsin native, I live in Brookfield, Wisconsin with my wife of 24 years and my two children.  I am a member of the Financial Planning Association of Southern Wisconsin (FPA-SW), the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) and the Marquette Alumni Association.

My certifications and what they mean for my clients:

As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM (CFP®), I am qualified to help individuals with their holistic financial planning needs.  Most people think all financial planners are "certified," but this isn't true.  Anyone can call himself a "financial planner.”  Only those who have fulfilled the certification and renewal requirements of CFP Board can display the CFP® certification marks, which represent a high level of competency, ethics and professionalism.  CFP Board's Standards of Professional Conduct require CFP® professionals to look out for your interests above their own.  For additional information on this certification, please visit http://www.letsmakeaplan.org.

As a Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA®), I integrate a complex body of investment knowledge, ethically contributing to prudent investment decisions by providing objective advice and guidance to individual investors and institutional investors. The CIMA® certification program is designed specifically for financial professionals who want to attain a level of competency as an advanced investment consultant.  For more information on this certification, please visit http://www.imca.org/pages/cima.
